Plant Aid Expands Leadership Team & Acquires 1,326-Acres of Land for Testing

Plant Aid welcomes Horticulturist Bill Artwohl and Farming Expert Will Mercer to its core leadership team. Together they add 1,326 acres of land for continued testing, product development and cultivation.

Encinitas, California | July 15, 2019 – California startup, Plant Aid, an agriculture company that specializes in the development of eco-friendly, non-toxic products formulated with Hypochlorous Acid from Electrolyzed Water (or HOCl) recently welcomed Horticulturist Bill Artwohl and Farmer Will Mercer to its leadership team.

Will Mercer, who comes from a long line of farmers in Southeastern Virginia will play a major role in distribution and sales, as well as research and development. His rich family history in farming dates back to the 1800s when his great grandfather purchased the farm he currently runs today. Will’s 1,300-acre farm dates back 5 generations and currently grows soybeans, tomatoes, string beans, radishes, and beets. The farm also produces hay and features a tree nursery. The farm has also recently begun growing hemp as a new venture.

Says Mercer, “We started growing hemp this year and we are so impressed with all of the test plants that have been treated by Plant Aid. It is a night and day difference. Production has increased and the size difference in our plants is drastic. When I have the opportunity to join the Plant Aid team, I did so without questions. Without farmers, we all would starve, and this is my opportunity to make farming clean again.”

Longtime Horticulturist Bill Artwohl brings over a decade of experience to the Plant Aid leadership team. Focusing mainly on genetic variation, Bill’s flagship site is located at the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert. Sitting on 26 acres in a remote area of Arizona; this operation embraces the extreme conditions in efforts to discover tolerant cultivars for the region. Bill specifically focuses on genetic stability and secondary metabolite variation/strength.

Says Artwhol, “I have had tremendous success with Plant Aid in regard to cleaning out Bio-film in irrigation systems that have seen supplementation. Increased time in between cleanings with no adverse effects on system components (eating away at system components like seals in pumps, solenoid valve, emitters, etc). I am ecstatic to bring my knowledge of growing and passion for all plants to the team and look forward to helping Plant Aid lead the clean farming movement.”
